Leshan Grand Buddha towering at the confluence of three rivers is a magnificent stone statute carved out of the mountain cliff. The creating work of this great wonder was started by a Buddhist monk called Haitong in the 8th century with the hope that the Buddha will tame the treacherous water to protect the boatmen. Many steep stairs are involved to cover the whole Buddha. Optional boating trip is available for the visitors to appreciate the whole statute.
After visiting the giant Buddha, we will transfer you to your hotel at the foot of Mt. Emei.
Today enjoy half mountain sights of Mt. Emei. Take a cable car with your guide up to Wannian Temple. Wannian Temple is one of Mt. Emei's signature temples and is frequented by devoted worshippers. The beamless brick hall has survived 18 earthquakes in the past 400 years. A visit to the hall is highlighted by a large copper statue of Bodhisattva Puxian (protector of the mountain) on a white elephant.
Out of the temple, we will walk down along the path to see the scenic area--Qingyin Pavilion (Pure Sound Pavilion). The exquisite pavilion, red pagoda, stone bridge, stream flowing over the rock formations, lush plantations and chirping birds unveil you a peaceful painting.
Continue the tour to sidle through the skyline (Yixiantian) and see the wild monkeys in Eco Monkey Area. Transfer back to your hotel in Chengdu and end today's tour.
