Itinerary

Day 1
Day Tour to Huangshan

Our Shanghai English-speaking guide and the private driver will pick you up from Shanghai hotel. Then drive to the airport for the Huangshan flight. Transfer to Tunxi hotel with Huansgahn local guide on the air-conditioned vehicle. Time permitting; wander around the simple ancient Tunxi Old Street and browse antique wooden souvenirs shops in the street.

Day 2
Huangshan Mountain Tour

Make a morning transfer to Huangshan scenic area. You can design your own way to tour Huangshan via either cable car or hiking. And a recommended route with the guide is to get up the summit by the labor-saving Yungu cable car. Then have a great view of Huangshan peculiar rock formations in Cloud Dispelling Pavilion and access the enticing West Sea Canyon.

Day 3
Huangshan, Xidi and Hongcun Tour

Today you can still flexibly tour Huangshan in your own way. And a guided recommended tour goes like this: Enjoy the otherworldly sunrise scene on the Refreshing Terrace. In this glowing sunrise picture, the peak clusters are shrouded by the spreading veil of sea of clouds. Beginning to Believe Peak and Blooming on a Brush Tip worth a pause to catch jaw-dropping views and snap beautiful photos. Descend Huangshan via the Yungu cable car and head to picturesque Hongcun and Xidi to taste the traditional detail-filled architectures in these two villages.

Xidi is a stronghold for prosperous merchant Hu clan dating to AD 1047. The thoughtful intricate-carvings interior contrasting with the simple exterior of black tiled roof and white walls deserves a closer and throughout exploration to find out the hidden Chinese ancestors' life wisdom. The decorative arch named Huwenguang Paifang, notable ancestral halls like Diji Hall, Zhuimu Hall can be checked out among the maze of flagstone lanes.

Then drive to Hongcun, a stronghold for another wealthy Wang clan. Here a leisure village stroll can be rewarded with the idyllic portrait of bridges, lakeside views, winding lanes and old traditional halls. The village's original ox-shape water systems, flushing water through the village for the purpose of the fire-proofing and irrigating again exemplifies the ancient locals' living intelligence.

Privately escort to Huangshan airport for your Shanghai flight. Your Shanghai guide and driver will meet you at the airport and transfer to your Shanghai hotel or city center.

Friendly Tips

  • 1. Winter falls in Huangshan from Oct.-Feb. Gloves and sunglasses are advised to protect hands from the chain friction and eyes from the sunshine reflections. Summer comes in late June-August and mosquito repellent and raincoat are advised.
  • 2. Higher you go, higher the bottled water and food prices are sold.
  • 3. The ideal sunrise observing lots on Huangshan Mountain are Refreshing Terrace and Lion Peak in North Sea. And if you would like to see the West Sea sun-setting glow, the best viewpoints are Cloud Dispelling Pavilion and Danxia Peak.
  • 4. The mountain peak condition is limited, thus better not to expect too much from the mountain hotels. The mountain hotels price roar in peak season and weekend and better make the reservation before you go to ensure the availability.
  • 5. Tunxi Old Street is a pedestrian street with Ming and Qing dynasty architecture. Stores on the street usually run around 10:00am till night. Bargain is necessary if you mean to buy some local souvenirs.
