House of Shambhala, opened in 2006, is conveniently located at bustling Barkhor Street and within minutes' walking distance to the must-sees like Jokhang Monastery and Potala Palace, stores and canteens.
Following the three-storey House of Shambhala, Shang Bala Hotel has opened second four-storey branch—Shambhala Palace in 2009. Both of the properties were renovated and converted from old Tibetan residences. Detail-filled decorations throughout the hotels exude authentic Tibetan atmosphere like the impressive wooden door, the inner courtyard shrine, exquisite handicrafts by the Tibetans, red walls adorned with colorful murals, etc.
The clean rooms offer traditional Tibetan furniture and basic facilities like western bathroom, TV, hot water, mini bar, etc. Nice views are available from the rooms or the rooftop cafes.
