Domestic Airlines can Reduce Flight Fare without Lower Limit

Published on November 8, 2013 by Barbara

The lower limit of domestic airfare was called off on 20th October 2013, according to the National Development and Reform Commission and Civil Aviation Administration of China. This practice has handed over back the freedom of price-setting to airline companies, ending the longtime guidance role of the government in the price setting. On the other hand, airline companies also can increase the ticket price with an upper limit of 25% of the functioning standard price.

Besides calling off the lower limit of the domestic airfare, more 31 flight routes were to set the fare independently, most of which mainly compete with the fast trains on the routes like Beijing-Shanghai and Beijing-Guangzhou. The flight fare adjustment should be made public seven days ahead.
