Chinese Ministry of Railways announced a new policy to standardize the train station names. All railway stations whose names include the Chinese character indicating direction need to replace the mix of Chinese and English usage by spelling out the names in Pinyin. The direction words in Pinyin "dong", "nan", "xi" and "bei" mean east, south, west and north. For example, Beijing south Railway Station is required to be relabeled as Beijingnan Railway Station. By the moment, Beijingsouth railway station has started using the new label and serves as an example for other railway stations.
