A Real-name System will be Applied to the Potala Palace Ticket

After the opening of the Qinghai-Tibet railway in 2006, many tourists of home and abroad swarmed into Tibet and made a prosperous tourism there. Especially the Potala Palace, which enjoys a fame of the largest scale and the most model castle-style architectural complex, is one of the most important destinations for tourists.

In order to protect the Potala Palace from overload of the increasingly tourists, management office of Potala Palace applied a measure that setting 2,300 people as the maximum number for visiting this building which was verified by the government of Tibet Autonomous Region in July, 2006. As a result, it was really hard to get a ticket during the tourist peak season. And at the same time, speculative reselling of tickets appeared, badly affecting the normal visiting of the Potala Palace.

Then a new system—real-name system will be applied to the Potala Palace ticket aiming at protecting the just right and interest of tourists from illegal speculative reselling of tickets. What is more, the tourism competent department of Tibet will join hands with other departments in the second half of this year to initiate an activity against the illegal behavior like disordering of the tourism market, illegal violation in the tourism market operated by some unlicensed travel agencies, hotels or cars or tour guides for the sake of the vital interest of tourists and maintaining of a good and healthy image of Tibet tourism.
