Potala Palace Treasure Hall Is About To Open To The Public

Treasure Hall is a three storied building at the foot of the Potala Palace, covering an area of 2,000 square meters with the total investment over 10 million CNY. "It will be opened to the public not far in the future", said the chief of Tibet Autonomous Region Cultural Relics Bureau.

This exhibition will take as the theme line in the relationship between the Central Government and the Tibet local government, the cultural communication between Tibet area and China continental area, attracting tourists with its unique charm to show them the full-bodied Tibetan custom and folk culture. At the same time, it can maximize the rational utilization of Tibetan cultural relics of Potala Palace and ease the flow of the Potala Palace visitors effectively.

More than 200 cultural relics and some relative photos are exhibited in the separated two exhibition halls with different themes, including some institution cultural relics of Ming and Qing Dynasty, infrequent Tibetan scriptures and precious cultural relics. They are the Beiye scriptures in 9 century, the bowl with white glaze and dark whelk grain produced in 12 century, coppery Buddhism statue made in 14 century, peach-like agate cup of 17 century, Buddhism pagoda Thangka of 17 century, snuff bottle of 18 century, etc., which involve almost all aspects of Tibetan history, politics, economy, culture and religion.
