The first street under the heaven

Qianmen Street, one of the three old streets in Beijing, performed a grand opening ceremony on Sep. 28 after the restoration. It reveals the original features of "The First Street under the Heaven" in the1920s, embraces many traditional China time-honored brands like Quanjude, Neiliansheng, Yitiaolong, Beijing cloisonné accounting for more than 70% of the total stores. Reportedly, the government of Beijing Chongwen district had introduced some special supportive policies for traditional Chinese brands on this street like the annual 10 million supportive grants for some traditional Chinese brands of Beijing and other cities all over the country since 2007.

Tourists flocked to this street for the China time-honored brands since the street reopening. They sampled the Quanjude Beijing Roast Duck, bought some cloth shoes in Neiliansheng, or hunt for the nice cheap crafts in the exquisite Beijing cloisonné. Many international brand shops also offered them the foreign flavor such as H&M, ZARA, Starbucks Coffee, Haagen-Dazs, New Balance, Element Fresh, M Restaurant and so on, consisting of 21% of the total stores on the street.

One thing deserving a mention is that all stores on the Qianmen Street should follow the well-received unwritten rule that no frequent or false promotion is advocated in order to ensure a normal, natural and safe shopping environment. Any violator will face the certain punishment.
