Shoton Festival in Tibet

Shoton Festival (Yogurt Festival), one of the big festivals in Tibet, is annually held in Lhasa on August 12 and concluded on August 18. Some nationality cultural performances and sports athletics competitions are on this period to present a rich feast of traditional culture and modern civiliazation. Besides, the Naqu Horse Racing Festival is held in north area of Tibet prairies from August 10 to August 17 to show you a magnificent scene of the Tibetans' horse racing.

Two great festivals and relatively abundant oxygen during the month have made August known as the best season for traveling in Tibet. According to the travel agencies' August estimate, more tourists will be attracted to explore the Tibet peculiar landscape, local custom and practices, mystery culture, etc.
