Visit the China's largest surviving imperial garden--Mountain Summer Resort. The resort used to serve as a summer retreat and a hunting ground for the emperors of Qing Dynasty. The elegant main palace complex and the vast scenic area dotted with lakes, gardens and pavilions provide ample opportunities for visitors to wander around and take photographs.

Stay overnight in Chengde to soak in the peace and tranquility.

Start today's tour with Putuo Zongcheng Temple (also named Little Potala Palace). The temple displays heavy Tibetan characteristic in its architecture like triple archway topped with small stupas, the Great Red Platform with towering red walls and copper gold tiles roof, white platform complexes, etc.

Continue the tour to Puning Temple--the biggest Buddhist monastery in northern China. Assembling Tibetan and Chinese buildings, this incense-saturated temple features a giant gilded wooden statue of the Kwan-yin Bodhisattva with a thousand hands and a thousand eyes. If visit time suits, the grand religious meetings and activities can be viewed and engaged in.

In the east of the Puning Temple is located Puyou Temple where the monks used to study Buddhist scriptures and carried out important religious activities. A brief visit to this small temple can be made if you like more temple elements.

Transfer back to your Beijing hotel or get off at your desired spot in city center before we conclude the tour.
