Itinerary

Day 1

Our local English-speaking guide and skilled driver will pick you up at your Beijing hotel at around 8:00am (or your convenient time) to cover the essential city spots.

The first leg is the Tiananmen Square, the public square filled with evolutionary monuments and museums as well as the local exercisers and posing-for-picture tourists. Passing the square, you then come to the imperial palace--Forbidden City which is rich in impressive architecture cluster and heavy with over 24 emperors' reign histories.

Then drive to Temple of Heaven. This past solemn rite for a good coming year by the emperor now has served as a park for the tourists and the playground for morning exercisers.

Take your time in the royal garden--Summer Palace decorated with vast lakes, ornate temples, pavilions to glimpse at the past poetic expanses of noble life.

Finishing Summer Palace, you can name it whether to be transferred back to your hotel or bye bye to your guide and driver and explore the surrounding by yourself.

Friendly Tips

  • Forbidden City closes on Mondays except national holidays and summer vacation (Jul 1st-Aug 31st).
  • Forbidden City allows only one-way south to north visit route. All visitors need to enter from Meridian Gate (south gate) and exit from Gate of Divine Might (north gate).
  • Chairman Mao Memorial Hall at the Tiananmen Square opens at 8-12am, Tues.-Sun. and no admission is required. Before you line up for entry, bag and camera needs to be deposited (RMB2-10) at the building of the east memorial hall of the square.
  • There is admission ticket and security-check if you want to climb up the Gate of Heavenly Peace to view the square. Bag storage is also required.
  • The City Wall and moat of Forbidden City are nice places for you to experience the local's leisurely life and take photos.
  • Beijing tends to be windy and sandy in spring (Mar-May) and autumn (Sept-Nov). You can dial Beijing 114 for the weather info of the intraday and following day (in Chinese and English version) to better prepare for your coming tour.
