Flexible Policy on Train Ticket Refund Fee Started on 1st September

Published on August 28, 2013 by Barbara

From 1st September, passengers will be allowed to return the train ticket at any railway station in the mainland by paying for a certain refund fee varying from the returning times, Chinese Railway Company declared.

Returning the ticket 48 hours or earlier ahead of departure time, the passengers will be charged a rate equal to 5% of the ticket fare as the returning fee. If the return time occurs between 24 and 48 hours before the travel time, the rate will increase to 10% of the original ticket price. A return less than 24 hours before the travel time will be subjected to a rate of 20% of the ticket price.

People have found a way to prevent the higher loss of 10%-20%: Changing ticket to a later date by more than 48 hours before asking for refund.
