Lhasa-Shigatse Railway Opened

Lhasa-Shigatse Railway opened today, at least two weeks ahead of schedule. The first passenger train will start tomorrow on 16th August from Lhasa station at 9 am, reaches Shigatse Station at 11:59 am. This 251 km extension to Qinghai-Tibet railway operates with top speed of 120 km/h, cutting the passenger travel time on Lhasa-Shigatse by 40% to only three hours.
