Lhasa-Shigatse Railway to Open in September

Lhasa-Shigatse railway is scheduled to open in September 2014. At a top speed of 120 km/h, the opening of train will connect Lhasa and Shigatse in about 2 hours. With a length of over 253 km, the railway will cover 13 stops (including 5 passenger stations), 116 bridges and 29 tunnels. As an extension of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, Lhasa-Shigatse railway is located at altitudes ranging from 3, 600 meters to 4,000 meters.
