This year passengers can purchase train tickets via online or phone-call booking systems up to 20 days ahead of the departure time, extending from the original 12 days. So 20th Jan. the first day of releasing the ticket of Spring Festival's eve (9th Feb.), has witnessed the national rush for ticket purchase.
As data stated, official train ticket website www.12306.com got 1.5 billion hits on this day alone. The tickets to popular cities like Wuhan, Harbin were sold out within half an hour. Tickets to some train lines were even sold out within 20 seconds.
